FLORISSANT, Mo. – Senator McCaskill was in Florissant, Missouri Sunday afternoon for her campaign rally.
She talked to people at a local Walmart.
KOLR10 reached out to McCaskill’s staff today, for a response to Hawley’s comments that McCaskill has been in politics too long.
In an email, campaign leaders said McCaskill is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress voting with President Trump half of the time.
They also claim the president has signed over 35 pieces of legislation that McCaskill helped draft.
The senator said today she’s simply a moderate.
“If it weren’t an election year, my Republican colleagues would all admit that they work with me and that we get things done together,” McCaskill said. “It’s just not fashionable these days to be someone who has bipartisan credentials.”
McCaskill also said Hawley’s similarities to President Trump are a double-edged sword.
In areas like Saint Louis, McCaskill says it’s not a positive thing, but in other parts of the state it can be.
