Man Shoots Himself After Branson Pursuit

BRANSON, Mo. – A man who led police and other law enforcement officers on an extended low-speed pursuit around Branson this afternoon (5/17/18) has shot himself, according to a Branson spokeswoman.

Melody Pettit told KOLR10 that the man was taken to a Springfield hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he pulled his automobile onto the property of Bee Creek Apartments.

The chase was initiated by Taney County Sheriff’s Deputies after they overheard a domestic call and tried to initiate a traffic stop of the suspect.

Sheriff Jimmie Russell tells KOLR10 that the case is being handled by Branson Police, but he did confirm that the man shot himself at the apartments where the chase ended at 200 Buzz St.

Spike strips were deployed at one time in the chase.

No other details have been confirmed at this time. KOLR10 and OzarksFirst has a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
