Man Injured in Fire, Explosion at Willard Home

WILLARD, Mo. — A man is being treated at a Springfield hospital for burns, after an explosion and fire at his home in Willard late Sunday night.

Willard Fire Chief Ken Scott tells KOLR10 News the fire was reported about 10:15 p.m. in the 7500 block of W. Persimmon Court.

Neighbors reported hearing an explosion before seeing flames.  Scott said when fire units go there, the door to the garage had been blown off and was laying about 40 feet from the house.

Firefighters from Willard, Ebenezer, Bois D’Arc, Ash Grove, Walnut Grove, Brookline and Republic were called to help fight the fire, which caused heavy damage.

Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.

The name of the man who was injured has not been released, nor has his condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
