Man Arrested For Threatening Golfers, Including Police Chief, With Shotgun

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KARK) — A man is in custody after allegedly threatening golfers at the Country Club of Arkansas with a shotgun.

One of the golfers is Maumelle Police Chief Sam Williams.

The man with the gun has been arrested and is facing multiple charges. He has been identified as 51-year-old Bradley French. 

According to Public Information Officer Jim Hansard, Williams was golfing with friends around 5:30 p.m. when they were threatened on the 17th fairway.

The golfers went to retrieve a ball from a ditch.

According to Hansard, French appeared with a shotgun and threatened to kill the golfers if they didn’t get off the property.

Williams was not armed at the time.

After the interaction, a patrol unit responded and took French into custody.

French is expected to face three aggravated assault charges as well as three counts of terroristic threatening.
