Loud Boom Heard Over the Ozarks, NWS Says Cause Still Unclear


SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A loud boom was heard and felt across the Ozarks early Wednesday afternoon.

The boom occurred around 12:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service of Springfield, Mo.

The boom was loud and strong enough to shake buildings, according to the NWS, would recieved many calls about the boom.

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office also said they received phone calls about the incident, but said they are unsure of the cause.

The cause of the loud boom is still unclear at this time.
