MARIONVILLE, Mo. — After the recent cold snap earlier this week, KOLR10 reached back out to a local orchard in Marionville to see how it’s recovering.
David Murphy is the owner of Murphy Orchards in Marionville. He says more than 60-percent of his peach orchards were damaged as a result of the freezing temperatures that dropped as low as 17-degrees.
But the orchard farmer says he’s hopeful because to have a full peach crop, you just need ten-percent of your bloom.
He says the unexpected cold snap is a sharp reminder of the risks and uncertainties that come each spring in this business.
