Possible human remains found in Ozark

Local News

OZARK, Mo. – The Ozark Police Department has discovered possible human remains in the area of West Longview Road.

Officers responded to the area on Thursday and discovered the remains. The remains, along with other evidence, will be sent for testing.

A farmer found the remains late Wednesday night and called the police department. Officers responded to the scene and secured the area but determined the investigation would be more effective during the daytime.

Thursday morning, officers and detectives returned to the scene and discovered evidence that led them to believe the remains are human.

The remains have been in the area for long enough that officers cannot tell if they are human or not, and officers say the remains are mostly bones.

The Ozark Police Department has been working on two missing person cases within half a mile from the area for two years, but the department wants to respect families by not releasing information before more is known.

There is no danger to the public in this area, and officers say they do not yet know a time frame for the results of the tests.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be published when more information is released.
