SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Springfield Police Department confirmed an 11-year-old girl was killed in a car crash Monday night.

According to a statement released by SPD on Tuesday morning, a white Chevy Cruze the girl was riding in was forced off the road by a black Dodge Durango around 7 p.m. Monday.

Police say the Cruze hit the guardrail as it left the road.

The Durango was driven by a seventeen-year-old girl heading north on Highway 65 when it rear-ended the Cruze.

The Cruze was also carrying a 37-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl. They were taken to a local hospital with “non-life threatening injuries”.

In its statement, the Springfield Police Department expressed its “condolences to the family”.

This is the fourth fatal crash in Springfield this year according to SPD.
