One man now deceased after involvement in five vehicle crash

OZARK, Mo. — One person is dead after receiving injuries from a five vehicle collision in Ozark Thursday, Oct. 22.

The Ozark Police Department (OPD) says officers arrived at the accident on State Highway CC and Fremont Road.

First responders took Timothy Griffin to CoxHealth for his life threatening injuries.

Griffin died from his injuries in the hospital Thursday, Oct. 29.

Though OPD says the man’s name it Timothy, Evangle University says its mourning the loss of Dr. Joel Griffin who died from his injuries in a five vehicle collision.

“It was with profound sorrow that I shared with the Evangel family today, our colleague and friend Dr. Joel Griffin has passed away,” said President Carol Taylor, Ph.D.  

Joel was a associate professor of music and director of jazz studies.  He had a wife named Kara and three children: Sadie, Elam and Harper. 

According to Evangle University, he held a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance and a master’s degree in music theory from Missouri State University.
