Shooting in North Springfield leaves one man dead, another person hurt

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Springfield police are investigating after a man was shot and killed, and another person hurt. Police have two people in custody. The shooting happened just after 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Officers found the man who was killed at 422 East Norton Road, in front of the Good Samaritan Foundation.

Police say they believe four people were involved in the shooting, and that they all knew each other. Officers say they don’t believe there is a threat to the public.

Police were called to 422 E. Norton Road after a call about shots fired around 4:40 p.m. Thursday

Also at the scene, a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant. police say they believe that vehicle was involved, but have not said how or who was driving. Police say the driver hit a tree, then the hydrant.

Officers blocked Norton Road in front of the Good Samaritan Foundation. They say it will reopen late Thursday evening.
