SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4:15 a.m. this morning.

According to officials, firefighters responded to a vacant home located at 2742 West Nichols Street, and when they arrived crews saw the house was on fire but quickly subdued the flames. The front of the house sustained fire and smoke damage. The full extent of the damage is currently unknown.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
