SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– U.S. Rep. Billy Long and House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson toured College of the Ozarks Youngman Agricultural Center on Friday, August 23 around 12:30 p.m.
Long says that agriculture is a growing industry and interest in its expansion crosses party lines.
“For several years kids would get off the farm and they’d stay off the farm. But in the last few years, we see more kids coming back to the farm.” Said Long.
Agriculture, trade, and tax reform were the main focuses of the tour.
Long also explained why it’s important to have a variety of people on a tour like this including his friend from across the aisle, Collin Peterson.
“I really wanted to kind of highlight the College of the Ozarks which I think it was very beneficial,” Long said. “because he’s already in his mind related it a college in Minnesota where he is”
Peterson said that he appreciates the practical application farming students at C of O are getting.
Youngman Agricultural Center is located at 100 Opportunity Ave in Point Lookout.
