JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.– A tornado swept across Missouri’s state capital Wednesday night, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The following morning, the people living in Jeff City are picking up the pieces. Homes, offices, and neighborhoods were flattened. One local car lot saw thousands of dollars in inventory destroyed.

Jefferson City was one of three Missouri towns that saw significant damage. The other two are Carl Junction and Golden City, which lost three of its citizens to the storm.
