Local Bikers Ride to Rescue Animals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Today was the Hogs for Dogs ride to benefit the C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue shelter.

Bikers left on a ride about 9 this morning and then wrapped up around 1:30 with a special bar-b-que lunch.

C.A.R.E. is a no-kill shelter on W. Sunshine — they help dogs and cats find forever homes.

The bike ride raises money for various needs at the shelter.

“Every year we choose a project our shelter needs,” Melissa Sartin with C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue said. “This year the money is going to go towards building a rehabilitation and quarantine facility so that we can rescue more sick and injured animals and provide them with medical care.”

The riders set a goal of raising $25,000 to help the mission work at C.A.R.E.
