Kids Playing Basketball Make an Assist for SPD

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –  After a kid threw a basketball at burglary suspect on a bike, Springfield police officers made the arrest Friday night.

According to a Facebook post from the Springfield Police Department, officers were dispatched to a burglary at a church in the 2700 block of N, National. 

The suspect, a 50-year-old man, stole two weedeaters from a garage and left the scene on a bike. Officers pursued the suspect, on foot and in patrol cars. 

A group of 10-12 year olds playing basketball nearby saw the pursuit. When one kid threw a basketball at the suspect, the man wrecked his bicycle and he was arrested.
