Hy-Vee Expects Half of Ordered Eclipse Glasses to Arrive Friday

News
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Hy-Vee in Springfield says it is 90% sure it will receive half of its order of 10,000 pairs of eclipse glasses on Friday.

Perishables Manager Michelle Caenepeel tells KOLR10 the glasses are ISO certified, and she expects 5,000 pairs to be in-store by late morning.

On Hy-Vee’s Facebook page, the company says there was a cost difference from the supplier, so the glasses will be sold at two pair for $7.00.  The store reserves the right to limit quantities.

Hy-Vee also noted it will not be taking reservations for the glasses.

Welding supply stores in Springfield tell KOLR10 they are also sold out of density safe glass, which is rated at a 12 or higher, and do not expect anymore in before the eclipse on Monday, August 21.
