Historic Tefft building is close to finding a new owner

News
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Greene County Family Justice Center is closer to moving into the historic Tefft school near Pythian and Fremont.

The News-Leader reports that the Springfield public schools voted last week to make Tefft a surplus property which opens it up to being sold.

However, before the Domestic Violence Center can buy it, the district has to consider other offers and how they will affect the community.

No decision has been made yet, but the old building will come with some strings attached for the future owner.

Anyone who acquires the building will have to honor an agreement with the O’Reilly gymnasium next door.

The Tefft school was a former elementary, and has not been used in recent decades.

It’s valued around 325 thousand dollars.
