SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Season tickets for the 2018- 2019 Broadway shows at Juanita K. Hammons hall are now on sale. But when it comes to buying a ticket online, buyers beware!
Hammons Hall staff says this is an ongoing problem, they’ve seen customers spend way too much.
“We have had instances where a $35 ticket sold for $350,” said Deb Gallion, director of marketing and promotions, Juanita K. Hammons.
Gallion says it’s legal in Missouri, third parties buy tickets and resell them at a higher price.
“You’re taking a risk,” she said.
And she says that’s caused some confusion at the door.
“Some brokers sell the same ticket to two people,” Gallion said. “And if you got a piece of paper from a website that we don’t know anything about, we may not have any way to track that ticket.”
And then it’s past the point of no return.
“We can’t refund your money because we don’t have your money,” she said.
Gallion says sometimes people might not know they are paying too much, because they assume these events are supposed to cost a lot.
“Especially people who are not used to buying tickets,” she said.
Gallion says third parties create websites that are similar to the official Hammons hall page so that it looks somewhat official.
“And you will be paying the actual price for the tickets, and you will be buying actual tickets, and I think that’s really the safest thing to do,” Gallion said.
You can also always purchase tickets in person, at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall box office.
