SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Grant Beach Park has a new centerpiece celebrating the railroad.
The Max Jahn Depot hosted its ribbon cutting this morning.
It’s part of the Railroad Historical Museum on N. Douglas in Springfield’s Grant Beach Park.
The depot is a replica of a turn-of-the-century train station and is named in the memory of longtime museum volunteer, Max Jahn.
The museum is dedicated to preserving the St. Louis – San Francisco railway history – otherwise known as the Frisco.
It includes a 1943-era Frisco locomotive that was installed in the park in 1953.
All the cars are connected and visitors can walk through to view the historic photos and artifacts.
The museum is staffed entirely by volunteers.
