Godejohn Trial Day Two: Hours of Text Messages Shown to the Court

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Among the sexually explicit text, messages shared between Gypsy Blanchard AND Nicholas Godejohn in 2015 are other messages. Prosecutor Dan Patterson presented them to the court as evidence of a plan hatched between the two to kill Gypsy’s mother Dee Dee those three years ago.

“Darling I am 100% with the plan,” Gypsy texted Godejohn at one point.

If the prosecution can prove the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard was planned, was pre-meditated, it’ll mean the difference between first degree and second-degree murder for Nicholas Godejohn.

Of course, proving that Godejohn pre-meditated and quote “coolly reflected” on the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard might have been as easy as sharing another piece of evidence with the court a recorded video-chat prison visit from a reporter in January of 2018.

“She went into the bathroom. She locked it. Then I waited at least a minute and thought about if I really wanted to do it,” Godejohn recalls during the video-chat.

Godejohn was told today by Judge David Jones that he will have the opportunity to testify. Godejohn didn’t say one way or the other if he will.

“Now have you had enough time to talk about the decision about whether or not to testify,” Judge Jones asked Godejohn. “You don’t have to tell me if you’re going to now or not. I was just asking if you’d had enough time to talk with Mr. Perry about it.”

“I might need more,” the defendant responded.
