SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Organizers call it a fellowship for geeky fun.
And Phelps Grove Park is the setting for the End of the Universe Picnic, a day filled with food and fun for gaming enthusiasts.
Everything is offered from tabletop gaming to computer gaming and more.
There’s also a picnic and potluck lunch.
People who attend the gaming event may also get to leave with a little something extra that they can pick up off a sharing table.
“We get people who will find old DVD sets they don’t watch anymore,” Organizer Chris Stuart said. “Board games. Sci-fi books. We’ve had VHS tapes, we’ve had t-shirts. And rather than just getting rid of it they’ll bring it here and we’ll do a swap meet table. So you can leave here with someone you really like, that somebody else used to love and now they’ve kind of passed it along to somebody else.”
Organizers of this event have a similar event in the fall, the Gaming Arts Community Expo, October 5, 6 and 7 at the Springfield Expo Center.
