MISSOURI – Incumbent State Auditor Nicole Galloway held off her opponent, Saundra McDowell, to win her first election last night.

Galloway was appointed as the Missouri State Auditor by former Governor Jay Nixon in 2015. Her win last night will make her the only Democrat to hold a statewide office.

After her win, Galloway tweeted out a thank you to family, friends and supporters. “Thank you to my family, friends and supporters. It was a long, tough campaign. I’m excited to get back to work as your independent watchdog in Jefferson City.

Galloway won with just more than 50 percent of the vote.
