Ft. Leonard Wood Commissary to Close, Some Medical Services Reduced

FORT.LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Some Fort Leonard Wood facilities will be reduced or even completely closed during the government shutdown.

According to a news release, the Fort Leonard Wood Commissary will close Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m., until the government reopens.

The General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital won’t stop inpatient, acute care or emergency operations, though “elective” surgeries and procedures would be reduced or canceled. But, if you’ve already scheduled an appointment, it won’t be canceled. You can call 866-299-4234 with questions about your appointment and available services.

The John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex is also closed.

The following services will stay open: all Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation services; MWR facilities including the Bowling Center, Davidson and Specker Fitness Centers, child care facilities, Outdoor Adventure Center, Leisure Travel, Piney Valley Golf Course, Pershing Community Center, Morelli Heights Bar & Grill, Lake of the Ozarks Recreational Area, the Auto Skills Center; exchange facilities and the Bruce C. Clarke Library.
