SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – As two great friends who “stick together and encourage each other,” it wasn’t a surprise when Michael Sharp’s colleague at work wanted to buy him a few Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets.
“I started to scratch them off and had to call him over there to make sure I was reading it right,” explained the Springfield man, who uncovered the first top prize on the new “$100,000 Taxes Paid” Scratchers game.
Sharp shared that his friend hugged him and was thrilled once they realized he had won $100,000. He said over the years, whenever something good happens, they are always happy for each other.
“I called my wife, and I don’t know what she thinks,” he chuckled, as he claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Springfield office. “I don’t think it has sunk in yet. We’ve got things we can really use it on, like our son’s education and paying off debt. It takes a huge weight off.”
The winning ticket was sold at Kum and Go, 620 N. National, in Springfield.
