Free Movie Ticket? Special Incentives at Local Non-profits

News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — It’s that time of the year that taxes are being filed and some are wishing they had a few more deductions.Tax write-offs are a big reason local non-profits get donations, but some are sweetening the pot with special incentives as well.

One of these promotions is going on this month at Goodwill locations across the Ozarks. For each vehicle that drives up and makes a donation on Wednesdays in February, they’ll hand out a movie ticket voucher for Wehrenberg Theaters. Whether donors come in because of the freebies, or are surprised to get them, the Goodwill sees these special promotions as a good way to do business and remind the public that they’re here.

“It’s just out way of saying thank you for the donations and some of the people in the community don’t realize how the donations actually help, MERS/Goodwill manager Christina Swearingin says. “Every donation helps someone’s life.”

Similar incentive programs are also common at the non-profits in the Ozarks Crosslines in Springfield recently offered a coupon book to area businesses with a $2 donation, and right now, DAV thrift stores are handing out special socks with a $20 donation.
