SPRINGFIELD, Mo — Springfield native and Missouri Sports Hall of Fame inductee LJ Jenkins will be hosting a 2-night rodeo event in the 417 this weekend.
The Extreme Roughstock Battle will take place at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds October 26-27th, and will feature saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding.
“If you look down the list, there are a lot of cowboys that we have seen on the big screen that are going to be here tonight,” explained Brandon Wren, the public announcer for the event.
“These animals are 1,600+ lbs of muscle, and they are definitely going to try and hurt you and to get you on the ground. These riders have a lot going through their mind when they are about to ride these bulls.”
While LJ Jenkins is not among the riders anymore, his name is no secret in Missouri. The Hall of Famer was a 10-time PBR Finalist, and ranks #12 on the all-time money earners list with more than $2 million earned over the course of his 11 year career.
Action begins tonight, October 26, at the Corwin Arena within the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. Doors open at 6pm with the main event at 7:30 both tonight and on Saturday.
