DETROIT — Ford is focusing on overseas production.
The company will move production of its focus compact car from the U.S. to China, then ship them back to the states to sell.
Ford originally announced plans to move to Mexico.
However, it estimates it will save $500 million annually by building in China rather than Mexico.
The reasoning lies with the fact that demand for small cars in the U.S. is weak with sales for the focus down 20 percent this year.
