FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An exhibit that tells the story of food insecurity in America is now in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
“This is Hunger” will be there over the course of a few days.
Right now, there are more than 42 million Americans who suffer from hunger in the U.S.
The organization that runs the exhibit estimates 13.1 million children and 5.7 million seniors fall into this category.
By telling the story through pictures, videos and hands on activities, the organization hopes to engage communities to act on a widespread and often over-looked problem.
“It’s not always someone that is completely distitute that suffers from hunger. It can be people that are working low income, that have had great jobs and have lost them, and have been unable to get back on their feet quickly. So it can be our neighbors and friends and we might not even know it,” Lisa O’Brien, spokesperson for Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger, said.
The exhibit has been on the road since November and will continue its cross country tour until February.
