Firefighter’s Own Home Catches Fire

BRANSON WEST, Mo. — A firefighter with the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District was awakened by a page for a house fire – his own house!

Eric Nielson,Southern Stone County public information officer, says the call went out early Sunday morning to the house on Sunny Lane in Branson West.

The firefighter had just returned from being called out to fight a brush fire in the Cape Fair area.  He had fallen asleep when another page when out for his own home. 

Nielson said the firefighter smelled smoke and found his garage on fire.  The fire is believed to have started around the engine area of his pick up truck, which was in the garage.

The man and his wife were able to get out safely.  Fire crews got there quickly and damage was limited to the garage and truck, Nielson said.
