FBI Investigating Springfield Bank Robbery


SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– A Springfield bank was robbed Tuesday morning but investigators are unable to release much information.

Springfield Police said they responded to a report of a robbery at Simmons Bank on  2809 E. Sunshine at 11:04 a.m.

According to Springfield Police spokesperson Lisa Cox, a white male entered the bank and demanded money.

Bank staff complied and gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and he fled northbound from the business on a red motorcycle.

No weapons were displayed; no one was hurt.

The suspect was described as 5’7” with a small goatee, wearing a tan shirt, gray pants and a tan “floppy” hat. 

A  K-9 unit was used in an attempt to locate the subject but was unable to track the scent.

The investigation is now under the authority of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
