Ex-Walnut Grove City Clerk Sentenced for Embezzling Over $66,000

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — After embezzling over $66,000, the former city clerk of Walnut Grove was sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison.

According to a news release from the Office of the U.S. Attorney, 45-year-old Cari Gillmore, of Springfield, will spend another three years on supervised release and pay $66,598.71 in restitution.

On May 8, 2017, Gilmore pled guilty to credit card fraud, admitting she used credit cards issued to the city of Walnut Grove for personal expenses without city official’s permission from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2015.

According to the release, Gillmore engaged in similar conduct from January 2014 to June 13, 2016, for losses totaling $66,598.71.

The FBI and Greene County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
