Earth Day celebrated by many over the Ozarks

News

SPRINGFIELD – A ceremony of Earth Day was held at Park Central Square in Springfield this morning.

Today was the 49th Earth Day. More than a billion people across the globe are celebrating while raising awareness of ways we can protect the environment.

“Today might be Earth Day but we should treat every day of the year as Earth Day today,” Kane Sheek from the Sierra Club said. “We might think about it more today but we need to be as cognizant every day of the year,”

Other earth day celebrations in the Ozarks include an “Ecopalooza” at Missouri State, and a seminar on how to “leave no trace” while enjoying the outdoors at the library center.
