Downtown Springfield is Currently Home to 50 Hours of Prayer

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — If you’re in downtown Springfield this weekend, you’ll hear the sounds of worship music and prayers filling the air.

A group called Awaken the Dawn has set up several tents downtown and right now, they are in the middle of 50 hours of prayer.

This isn’t only happening in Springfield; tents like this are set up across the nation.

If you’re wondering how it all works: Teams take turns, spending several hours either singing or praying.

Jason Buchanan, a campus ambassador for Awaken the Dawn, shared his hope for this ambitious event.

“That we are going to see the atmosphere shift in this city, that we are going to see a restoration of families and healing in this city, and that we would see amazing things begin to happen and that we would see freedom in this city,” Buchanan said.

Buchanan told KOLR10 anyone is welcome to join in with their prayers and singing.

The 50 hours of prayer ends tomorrow at 9 p.m.
