Downtown Springfield Great Southern Bank Robbed

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Great Southern Bank in central Springfield was robbed Tuesday afternoon and police are searching for the suspect.

According to Springfield police spokesperson Lisa Cox and the FBI, a man entered the bank at 3:45 p.m. on 331 South Ave. and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller gave the man cash and he fled on foot southbound.

He did not display a weapon.

The man is described as:

  • Lone White Male 
  • Approximately 55 years of age
  • Approximately 6’2″ and 250 lbs. 
  • White rubber gloves
  • Light blue, possibly denim, ball cap
  • Black sunglasses 
  • Tan pants
  • Blue shirt 

The FBI is investigating.
