FORSYTH, Mo. — Downtown Forsyth is getting a facelift thanks to people in the community wanting a thriving Main Street.
Upgrading the library is the first step of the revitalization project.
The library came to Forsyth in 1969 and is only staffed by volunteers.
It doesn’t get any state or federal funding.
The librarian says it needs a paint job inside and out, new insulation and roof work.
Georgina Holiday with the Forsyth Area Chamber says the main goal is to bring back an economy and community to Main Street.
We’re really excited about this revamp because it’s local contractors who have gotten together and they’re donating over $30,000 worth of material, labor, just their time to revamp Forsyth,” Holiday said.
Business owners downtown are also making upgrades to their storefronts and decorating for Christmas together this year.
The route of the Christmas parade will also go down Main Street.
