SPRINGFIELD, Mo – Wonders of Wildlife at Bass Pro is set to open a new feature… a shark dive.
Shelby Stephenson with Bass Pro says this is a new way to bring their guests closer to the wildlife at the aquarium.
“So wonders of wildlife has just announced our most immersive experience that we’re offering to date. Here at our Out to sea aquarium guests will now be able to get in the water some of our biggest animals, our sharks, and our groupers,” says Stephenson.
Are you afraid of sharks? Or diving in general? Well, the dive team says not to worry, you just have to do two simple tasks.
“The good news about the dive is that all you have to do is be able to stand and breathe. There’s no swimming or diver certification involved. You’ll actually be wearing an air helmet that rests on top of your shoulders, so it keeps your face and hair dry but you’re completely submerged with the animals” Shelby says.
There are two divers who help lower you in the water and stay with you while you’re in there, one of those divers is Cole Drake.
“I was really excited, back where I’m from, sharks are rare so being able to dive with them is so awesome. What I like to do is show people what I love which is the ocean and all the animals especially the sharks. So being able to show them this up close and personal inside the cage underwater less than a foot away from these guys is a cool experience,” says Drake.
“It’s really peaceful, I can tell you 100 percent of the time it’s all smiles coming out of the water,” Drake continues.
The price to dive ranges from $130-$155, depending on if you want to dive during the Feeding Frenzy, and that includes:
- 1.5-hour Out to Sea Shark Dive Experience
- Combo ticket to Wonders of Wildlife
- Commemorative t-shirt
- Underwater camera to take photos during your experience
- Souvenir flash drive with photos from your experience
The dive experience is set to open to everyone mid-June!
