Dictionary.com has revealed its word of the year for 2017 and it’s: Complicit.
The site defines “complicit” as involved with others in an illegal activity or wrongdoing.
Interest in the word spiked in March when “Saturday Night Live” aired a fake commercial for “complicit” perfume.
A month later, President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, told CBS that she didn’t know what it meant to be complicit.
The word returned to the news in October when republican U.S. Senator Jeff Flake announced his retirement by saying “he would not be complicit” about the current political climate.
