Dickerson Park Zoo Unveils Two Female Sloths

News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo – Dickerson Park Zoo’s latest addition to the park is a dose of double trouble.

Meet Janis and Trixie, two female, two-toed sloths.

These girls are arboreal animals native to Central and South America. Their long claws make walking a little tough, but that’s okay because they prefer to hang out… Eat… And sleep.

But they didn’t just show up, they’ve been at the park since last winter…

They just needed a little time to adjust.

“Probably this is one of the number one things we’ve heard from guests as far as requests are when are you going to get sloths or do you have sloths so we’re happy to say now yes we do so hurry out and meet the sloths,” says Joey Powell with DPZ.

You can meet Janis and Trixie every day during regular zoo hours.
