SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — KOLR10 Daybreak is taking you live this morning to the Dickerson Park Zoo.

Zoo spokesperson Joey Powell is up early – but she’s not alone! She’s got black bears, Gus and Yona, with her.

Joey, what can you tell us about these guys?

Dickerson Park Zoo cares for two black bears, Gus and Yona.

Gus is 9 years old – he’s been at Dickerson Park Zoo since he was a baby, having been found abandoned near Springfield.

Yona is 8 and came to us from the Tulsa Zoo when he was young.

Fun facts:
Each weighs 300-400 pounds.

They eat grasses, roots, berries and these two especially love the porridge mix I’ll be feeding.  Yes, they also like honey.
