SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The urgent care facility located at the CoxHealth Turner Center will extend to 24/7 service beginning on January 21.
“We just saw the need in the community,” said CoxHealth RN Melody Smith. “There are not a lot of places for patients to go, especially at night– so, the emergency rooms have had long waits.”
Given the center’s proximity to Cox South, this location is known as an urgent care plus. “Urgent care plus is a provider-based urgent care meaning we offer more options like CT scans, ultrasounds and all varieties of x-rays and labs,” said Smith.
Patients should still visit the emergency room for life-threatening issues, but the urgent care facility will be useful for treating ailments such as sore throat, rash, cough and congestion.
“We also will have the save my spot ability overnight, so people will be able to go online and make an appointment for a time in line,” said Smith.
According to CoxHealth, the Turner Center facility is currently the only 24/7 urgent care location in the region.
