Couple Indicted with Burning Down Dentistry and Collecting Insurance Money

MT. VERNON, Mo.– A married couple indicted by a grand jury allegedly burnt down a dentist’s office in Mt. Vernon and collected more than $25,000 in illegally-claimed insurance money.  

A probable cause statement says Thomas Alms, 63, is charged with one count of “stealing by deceit” and one count of second-degree arson.  

His wife Laura, 59, is charged with both of those same two counts as well as two counts of tampering with a witness.
