Community Foundation of the Ozarks Announces Humanitarian Award Recipients

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Community Foundation of the Ozarks honored some special people Wednesday afternoon.

A luncheon was held for the recipients of the 2017 Humanitarian Award at the Doubletree on Glenstone.

The award was presented to Dr. David and Linda Brown.

They are known for their work with the Gathering Tree downtown and for developing the Eden Village housing concept, both support homeless individuals in the area.

They were presented with $5,000 in cash which is traditionally donated to a charity of their choice.

“We’re having fun, said David Brown. “We’re doing what’s right. We’re doing what’s natural. So, to get the recognition was a surprise to us. The beauty of this is getting our project known. I really think this is gonna help us get it out into the public and let the public know what we’re doing.”

The Springfield area Chamber of Commerce reviews nominations and selects the annual recipient of the award.
