POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – College of the Ozarks will break ground on a new global War On Terrorism memorial next week.

The memorial was designed by Nixa artist, James Hall and depicts the battlefield cross which represents a fallen hero who has been killed in action.

It also will feature a wounded service dog.

School leaders say the statue will honor the troops who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice in the conflicts overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be at 1 p.m. at Patriots Park on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

When completed the new statue, featuring all branches of service will connect other war memorial walkways on the college.
