SPRINGFIELD, Mo – City Utilities of Springfield is looking to expand their solar energy resources.

CU and the Springfield-Branson National Airport will enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) allowing research for the possibility of constructing a solar farm on property near the entrance of the airport, City Utilities says on their website.

The area near the airport is a 30-acre site that has the potential for approximately 3 MW of solar energy generation.

A request for proposals will be issued in the coming months.
