REPUBLIC, Mo. — Just west of Springfield, students and coaches in Republic are celebrating a brand new place for student-athletes to hone their skills.
The school held an open house for the new stadium and facility tonight.
The district was able to build the facility at Republic’s high school, thanks to a no-tax levy increase.
Students and those who attend games will enjoy new restrooms and concessions facilities, as well as a new video board.
Activities Director Trevyor Fisher shared the positive effect the new stadium could have on students.
“I think it will motivate our kids to take pride in what they’re doing,” Fisher said. “Whether that translates into more wins or not, who knows, but I think it will motivate our young kids as they come up through the elementary and junior high ranks.”
The first football game of the season will be held on Friday, Aug. 24.
