City council meeting results to some big questions


SPRINGFIELD Mo. — Another busy night at Springfield’s city council meeting.

If you think your neighbor’s grass is too high, council has made it easier to report the yard.

The housing code was changed to declare weeds over 7 inches tall as a nuisance.

The code to declare weeds as a nuisance used to be 12 inches.

Leaders have decided to condemn 5 properties near Battlefield and Fremont to widen and improve the intersection.

Land purchase for the fire department’s 13th fire station was approved which will be built on College Street west of Kansas Expressway.

After debate, council also voted no designating the Treadway’s store and gas station as a historical site. Many members from Galloway Village thought the store should be preserved. The resolution failed 5 to 4.

Another bill to rezone 5 acres on West Division for another Eden Village was tabled until the next meeting.
