Carthage High School Archery Student Shoots Perfect Score

JOPLIN, MO. — Archery history was made during a high school archery tournament in Joplin Saturday.

A sophomore archer from Carthage, Trenton Meyer shot a perfect 300 during the Academy Shoot-out Archery tournament.

Shooting a 300 is so rare that only 8 other people in the world have achieved this feat and he is now the first person in the state of Missouri to do so. 

For Meyer this accomplishment is a mix of emotions.    

“Excited, but nervous at the same time for some reason, Um cause there gonna everybody’s gonna be expecting it again. And that’s pretty hard.” said Trenton Meyer Carthage archer. 

“It’s incredible. Just the adrenaline high today has been pretty awesome and to hear the buzz around around the arena here today is pretty cool. There’s people talking about it and very happy for him he’s worked really hard to get to this point.” said Caleb Patrick Carthage archery coach.

Patrick says that shooting a 300 has been one Meyer’s biggest goal’s and he believes that the young archer can to do it again.
