CARL JUNCTION, MO. (KODE) — People from across the four states head out to Carl Junction to shred their old documents.
They called it “Shred-It Palooza”, a chance for individuals to make sure that their important personal information is not stolen.
One of the biggest goals for the palooza is making sure that all this paper doesn’t end up in a landfill.
The Carl Junction Area of Chamber of Commerce hosted the event to make ensure residents in the town had a way to recycle.
“We were approached by Region M which is a solid waste district and they had a grant working through the Department of Natural Resources so we wanted to come up with something that would be good for the community good for the earth and we can say without a doubt this was successful,” said Gary Stubblefield, of the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.
Stubblefield said right before tax season is the perfect time to shred private information so no one can steal it and file taxes under your name.
