SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A car crashed into a utility pole on Division Street and Johnston Avenue, killing one and injuring another.

Police say the car was going westbound around 10:45 Sunday morning (2/23/2020) when it crossed the lane and hit a utility pole.

Both occupants of the vehicle were taken to a local hospital. The passenger, who was ejected from the car, later died. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

It is not clear what caused the accident; however, both sides of Division were blocked off entirely between Kansas Expressway and Commercial Street.

City Utility crews are working on the damaged power lines.

Police have not released names at this time.

This is a developing story. KOLR 10 and Ozarks First will post updates as they arrive.
