Camdenton Man Charged in Double Homicide and Arson Investigation

CAMDENTON, Mo. — Steven Ray Endley, 54 years old from Camdenton, Missouri, was charged with murder, armed criminal action, burglary, and arson.

According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Endley was arrested for the murders of Danielle M. Smith, 27 years old, and her mother, Teresa A. Jackson, 61 years old.

This event happened on August 29th when the bodies of Smith and Jackson were found in the remains of their mobile home while firefighters were battling a blaze at the trailer park.

Prior to the homicide, Endley had an ongoing disagreement with Smith over her sex life. According to the press release, the FBI is working with Camden County to see if the murders were part of a hate crime in connection with Endley’s disagreement.

At the time of Endley’s arrest, two of his family members were also arrested and taken into custody, but neither of the two have been charged yet. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

Endley is charged with two counts of the Class A Felony of 1st Degree Murder, two counts of Felony Armed Criminal Action, one count of the Class B Felony of 1st Degree Burglary, and one count of the Class C Felony of 2nd Degree Arson.  Endsley will appear before the court on October 4th and is held without bond.
